April 12th 2014, Muskegon Michigan was hit by 6 tornadoes, which left a ton of destruction, I was at work when it happened (I don't work in Muskegon) My mom had called me and told me that in about 10 minutes the entirety of Muskegon had been "Remodeled". She said the sky turned green, and the winds picked up and there was no warning. My parents went to the basement. My roommates watched it roll in, they waited till they say 2 trees come down when they decided it was time to head for the basement, luckily our house, and my parents house and all our vehicles made it out without a scratch. We were lucky. When my boyfriend and I got out of work we got the experience driving home in complete darkness. There were no lights in the City of Muskegon, zero. It was spooky to drive through the city with no lights, except for the ones from the cars. People are so stupid where there is no power by the way, at the lights everyone just kept driving right through them, they didn't stop or look or anything, when there is no power you treat ever intersection as a 4-way stop, yet no one did. Now just to add to the fact that there was no power in the city, my car was not running like it was supposed too. It would not accelerate past 60mph... So driving home from work on the highway was annoying. We stopped to my parents house to drop off my car and get a ride home, since all the roads were blocked off we didn't want to drive around trying to fight a good path to take home. As we piled our stuff from my car to my moms, round 2 of the storm started to roll in, which started with a rain/hail mix. We drove in a zig-zag pattern dodging trees and branches as we maneuver our way home. We then arrived to our home lit up in a ton of candles. We were without power for 2 and a half days, we lost the majority of our food, but still have the important stuff. I post a few of pictures just around my house, I will be posting more when I go out and take a larger look around. On the upside my birthday is 10 days away.
